Dr. Whitney Owens areas of practice include eating disorders, personality disorders, depression, anxiety, relational issues and addictions. I have experience working with young adults, couples and families. I use a variety of modalities in my work, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy, RO-DBT, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I work closely with you to determine the appropriate treatment modality and to deliver effective and supportive treatment. Please note that I only see clients aged 18 and above. I specialize in working with people who are struggle to regulate their emotions and turn to maladaptive coping. Sometimes when we are stressed, we may turn to food, away from food, or towards alcohol or other substances to cope with our emotions. Difficulty in regulating your emotion can lead to difficulties in relationships, such as poor communication and dissatisfaction in relationships. I use a behavioral approach to help you and those you love learn to communicate and manage emotions effectively and in line with your values. I believe the most important factor in your progress in therapy is the therapeutic relationship. My focus is on building a trusting relationship that will allow you to feel safe, comfortable and able to address the problems and issues that are preventing you from leading a happy and fulfilling life.
