I am a licensed clinical psychologist in California. I treat anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress, and co-occurring physical and psychological conditions. Therapy is most effective when attending to one’s culture, whether that’s related to race and ethnicity, family, sexual orientation, religion, career field, or other cultural considerations. I respect the culture you bring to your treatment and will work with you to integrate the benefits of treatment into your life. The core of what I offer is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), a broad set of interventions with the greatest evidence for effectiveness treating the greatest number of conditions. Therapy is values-driven and may include elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy among other approaches. Depending on your interest, we may incorporate yoga practices such as gentle movement, breathing techniques, and meditation. Therapy is an active process. I will collaborate with you to identify an effective course of treatment. Therapy may include tasks to complete outside of session as new skills acquired in therapy require practice, such as writing about your experiences, trying new ways of communicating, or engaging in mindfulness practice, to name a few. Prior to becoming a clinical psychologist, I served in the U.S. military. I was also a management consultant for systems implementation and evaluation, primarily at the juncture of information technology and financial management. I volunteer with multiple organizations, with emphasis on life transition post military service. I focused on complementary and integrative health during my postdoctoral fellowship jointly with the War Related Illness and Injury Study Center, VA Palo Alto Health Care System, and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Stanford University School of Medicine.
