After practicing law in New York City for some years, Dr. Veilleux opted to take a sabbatical that would allow her to follow her real passion — psychology. She traveled extensively in Europe, Eastern Europe, Asia and the Middle East, studying various cultural and spiritual approaches to understanding the functioning of the mind. Dr. Veilleux returned from her sabbatical abroad and opened her own psychotherapy private practice in Québec in 1995, which she maintained until her relocation to the United States. In October 2012, she became licensed as a psychologist by the South Carolina Board of Examiners in Psychology and opened her office shortly thereafter.
