Coronavirus Update: I now treat patients remotely via video sessions. These sessions are covered by most insurance companies. ​ Dr. Bieber is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 33 years of experience. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from SUNY Albany in 1986. Dr. Bieber has extensive experience working in various settings and with numerous types of disorders. As a graduate student she spent four years at the Center for Stress and Anxiety Disorders. She has vast experience working with agoraphobia, social phobia, general anxiety disorder, and simple phobias. She did clinical practicums at the Psychological Services Center of SUNY Albany and at Albany Medical Center Outpatient Psychiatry. Her Clinical Internship was at the Greater Hartford Clinical Psychology Consortium. During this time she worked in inpatient and outpatient settings, was on call for the hospital's emergency room, supervised medical students, and worked at the Alcohol Treatment Center at UConn. There she was responsible for evaluating, treating, and providing education to patients struggling with alcohol and substance abuse issues. She continued this work with patients with chemical dependency issues during her time as a Staff Psychologist at Conifer Park, an alcohol and substance abuse treatment facility in Glenville, N.Y. She also worked as part of a group practice specializing in the treatment of eating disorders for 9 years. During this time she served on the Board of Directors of CRAED (the Capitol Region Association for Eating Disorders). Since 1994 she has been in individual private practice. She is a member of the APA, the Psychological Association of Northeast New York, and the National Registry of Health Service Providers in Psychology. Dr. Bieber was trained as a cognitive-behavioral psychologist but currently she defines her approach as pragmatic. She blends psychodynamic, interpersonal, and CBT strategies as needed.
