Steven Friedman , Ph.D., ABPP ( Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology ) is Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and Founder and Director of the Phobia and Anxiety Disorders Clinic at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He graduated from Brooklyn College , summa cum laude and received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from SUNY at Stony Brook. He is a Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. He has published 69 peer reviewed papers and 15 book chapters . in addition, he has edited two volumes on Anxiety Disorders ( Cultural Issues in the Treatment of Anxiety, The Guilford Press, 1997 and Anxiety Disorders in African Americans, Springer Publishing Company, 1994) His work has focused on the clinical manifestation and treatment of anxiety and sexual disorders across diverse ethnic and cultural groups. He maintains a small private practice.
