Dr. Sheree Johnson is the founder and Director of Gestalt Ann Arbor. She is a licensed professional counselor and certified alcohol and drug prevention specialist. Dr. Sheree has developed extensive expertise in Women's Issues, Domestic Violence; Sexual Abuse; Intimacy and Relationships; Depression and other Mood Disorders; and Spirituality as a psychotherapeutic modality. She has a B.A. in Social Work and an M.Ed. in Counseling and M.Phil. in Psychology. Her Ph.D. is in Health Psychology focused on the impact of early traumatic stress on the hippocampus of developing brains. Dr. Sheree trained in Virginia Satir's Transformational Systemic Therapy; Salvador Minuchin's Structural Family Therapy; and Jay Haley's model of Strategic Family Therapy before she discovered the teachings of Fritz and Laura Perls. Dr. Sheree then trained at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland for several years in the Advanced Gestalt Couples and Family Program. Her mentors and teachers in Gestalt included Dr. Les Wyman; Dr. Wes Jackson; Dr. Victoria Winbush; Dr. James Kepner; Dr. Karen Fleming; Dr. Philip Belzunce and Dr. Lalei Gutierrez - all of the Cleveland Institute; Dr. Michael Clemmens of Pittsburgh; and Dan Bloom, J.D, LCSW, of New York City.
