Dr. Shannon Smith is a licensed psychologist with BayCare Medical Group in Winter Haven, Florida. She received her undergraduate degree in family and child sciences and her Doctor of Philosophy in counseling psychology and school psychology from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. Dr. Smith performs mental health assessment and therapy, with different levels of risk. She identifies as a generalist psychologist, who works with a wide range of concerns and individuals of varying backgrounds. Her medical focus is on helping patients understand the causes of their mental health disorders, so they can be treated with therapy and/or medication. Additionally, she has specialized training in Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anxiety, depression, and LGBTQ+ identified individuals. She has contributed numerous articles to peer-related publications, such as the Journal of College Student Psychotherapy and the HSOA Journal of Emergency Medicine and Surgical Care. She is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), Florida Psychological Association (FPA), and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH).
