Dr. Pirrotta began his career in developmental psychology and education, teaching and developing educational programs at pre-school and elementary school levels. He later started the Salem Public Alternative School, in Salem, MA, worked with mentally ill, court involved high school kids at Danvers State Hospital, and ran the Commonwealth Fellowship Internship Program for the Dept. of Mental Health in Lawrence, MA. He received his Doctorate from U.Mass at Amherst, working in the U. Mass Medical Center Student Counseling in Worcester. He received advanced systemic family therapy training with the Milan Group in Milan, Italy, and the Andolfi Family Therapy Center at the University of Rome, Italy. He joined Exeter/Portsmouth Mental Health Associates in 1983, taught in the Clinical Psych. Program at Antioch New England in Keene, NH, taught in the Marriage and Family Therapy Program at UNH in Durham, NH. while managing and doing therapy in a large, multi-disciplinary group practice in Exeter and Portsmouth, NH. He joined Ki Associates, Inc. in 1993, an organizational consulting firm in Portsmouth, consulting to family businesses, clinical and organizational organizations, and medical practices. He lectured and consulted on clinical issues and systemic approaches to organizational development all over the United States and Italy. In 2000 he started Byfield Family Therapy Associates serving the North Shore and Seacoast area. He continues now in solo private practice in Byfield, MA, maintaining his consulting and clinical supervision practice as well.
