Philosophy and Approach: My approach to counseling prioritizes establishing a supportive therapeutic alliance. I am passionate about working collaboratively with clients to create a space in which they can tap into their emotions, discuss personal topics, and work toward their goals. My therapeutic style often involves the use of mindfulness-based interventions, examination of patterns that exist in clients’ relationships, identification of clients’ strengths, and enhancing clients’ coping skills. I have training and experience in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Time-Limited Dynamic Psychotherapy. Many clients have expressed appreciation for my authenticity, warmth, and caring nature.
Formal Education and Training: I hold a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Tennessee State University, which was an APA-accredited program. I also earned a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Southern Oregon University, which was a CACREP-accredited program. Lastly, I graduated with departmental honors from University of Oregon with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Much of my formal training has taken place in university or college counseling settings, though I have also worked in community mental health and private practice settings. I have a strong background in working with adults with depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, body image concerns, assertiveness issues, and problematic relational patterns. I enjoy working with individuals of all genders and sexual orientations.
