With a straightforward style, owner Dr. Sarah Burgamy is a Denver area Psychologist who holds honesty and openness as central values to therapy. PhoenixRISE is dedicated to serving Denver's diverse communities with specialty areas in: identity development, depression, anxiety, significant life transitions, grief and loss, relational issues, and sports or competition related challenges. As a past-President of the Colorado Psychological Association (CPA), former Chair of the Society for the Advancement of Multiculturalism and Diversity (SAMD), with experience as an adjunct associate professor at the University of Denver, a guest speaker, trainer and consultant on diversity concerns across the Denver metro area and beyond, Dr. Burgamy is uniquely qualified to work with individuals who self-identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, transgender, gender queer/variant, and questioning. As a born and raised Coloradan, Dr. Burgamy has an extensive understanding of our local Denver community, concerns, politics, and challenges. Dr. Burgamy has also served as a past member (2017-2019) and chair (2019) of the American Psychological Association's (APA) Committee on Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity as well as the Colorado representative to the APA Council of Representatives (2014-2019).
