I work best with persistent persons wanting a better quality of life. Because it can be difficult to seek help, I provide psychoeducation about therapy to clients and am forthright and supportive. So if you are feeling anxious or sad, have worries, or are worried about a child's social, attention or homework skills, I am able to help. Clients who are motivated to do better and want relief from school, social and family stresses can benefit from my approach to therapy. It is important to remember that each person is an individual who has his or her individual concerns. My approach is focused, following a cognitive-behavioral orientation. I have experience working with a wide range of child and adult clients and have and understanding of the unique culture of schools. Adults seen in my practice are generally anxious, stressed, panicky and dealing with life circumstances. I am knowledgeable about special education and test modifications and include parents in their child's treatment. Treatment for adults and youth emphasize coping and problem solving skills, which are tools used when formal therapy has ended. One should acquire the ability to see alternatives so problems become less overwhelming and more manageable. My experience includes many years of service in working with children, teachers and families public schools, having provided the full range of school psychological services. My postdoctoral training from the Albert Ellis Institute is an important part of my practice with individuals of all ages. My experience in academia has also helped me remain current in practice, as I have been teaching testing and counseling skills for many years. I hold Board Certification in School Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology. Other professional activities include serving the profession in capacities that advocate for high standards of professional practice.
