Dr. Raushannah Johnson-Verwayne, also known as “Dr. RJ” is a licensed clinical psychologist and the founder of Standard of Care Psychological Services, LLC, in Atlanta, GA. Dr. RJ brings a balance of science, practicality, wit, humor, and relatedness to the clinical field. She is a proud alumna of North Carolina A&T State University and earned her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the Georgia School of Professional Psychology. Dr. RJ has appeared as the expert psychologist on the Lifetime series Killer Kids and on several episodes of the docu-crime series For My Man on TV One, she is the host of Wellness Wednesday for KPRS Hot 103 Jamz in Kansas City, and she has authored several blogs and articles for a variety of publications. Dr. RJ has received numerous awards for her work in the field of psychology and prides herself on making the subject of psychology and mental health more relatable. Dr. RJ is also a certified Zumba instructor and is passionate about teaching the importance of the mind, body, spirit connection as it relates to total wellness. As an African-American woman, Dr. RJ recognizes the unique impact of stress on her demographic. Author of the newly published book Stress, Lies and Vacancy: The Self Care Guide to Refill Your Empty Vessel, Dr. RJ’s experiences and transparency provide an empowering self help guide for women of color to reduce common stressors in their lives that have long term effects on the body and brain. Through this latest endeavor Dr. RJ is on a mission to heal one woman at a time and debunk the myth of the Black superwoman. Although she absolutely loves her career, her ultimate joy comes from her faith in God, and her love for her husband and their two children. Dr. RJ’s favorite quote is “Self-care isn’t selfish. You can’t serve from an empty vessel”.
