I am an African-American woman with 38 years of counseling experience. I began as a medical social worker, which I did for 8 years before returning to school for my doctorate in Counseling Psychology. I have been in private practice for 25 years. I specialize in the treatment of African-American clients and have a particular interest in health and wellness and practice from an holistic perspective. I ran an Afrocentric/holistic support group for Black women for 10 years and have been working for the past 24 years in the Counseling Center at Cleveland State University, where I do counseling with college students and training and supervision of interns and practicum students. I also teach the Black Psychology course in Black Studies. I take a mind, body and spirit approach to my treatment because I believe in treating the whole person. I also believe in incorporating Afrocentric techniques when working with African-American clients. I have worked with clients with depression, anxiety, stress management issues, relationship issues. self esteem issues, education and career concerns, parenting issues and racial discrimination, just to name a few. I am also an active member of the local chapter of the Association of Black Psychologists and serve in the role of the Student Circle Coordinator. and am also a member of APA. And last but not least, I am very happily married and the proud mother of a very accomplished and successful son.
