In 2012, Dr. Martinez established Clinical and Forensic Psychology Services (CFPS), a private practice that specializes in adult psychological evaluations. His forensic evaluations focus on sexual offending, general violence, personal injury, competency to stand trial, and criminal responsibility.
Dr. Martinez is board certified in forensic psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). He earned his undergraduate degree in psychology from Cornell University in 2002. In 2007, he completed an internship with a concentration in forensic psychology. After obtaining his PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Georgia in 2008, he completed a post-doctoral fellowship in forensic psychology at Georgia Regional Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
Before founding CFPS, Dr. Martinez served as the lead forensic psychologist for a 48-bed secured forensic unit at a state psychiatric hospital for adults in Atlanta, and he worked as an independent examiner for New York State’s Bureau of Sex Offender Evaluation and Treatment.
Dr. Martinez has served in several national leadership positions, such as Treasurer and President of the American Board of Forensic Psychology and the Chair of the American Board of Professional Psychology's Committee on Ethics, and Chair of the American Psychological Association’s Committee on Professional Practice and Standards. Additionally, he has presented and published on a variety of topics related to forensic psychology, ethics, and risk management.
