I'm a licensed clinical psychologist and the founder of Brinkley Psychology, a private assessment practice in Richmond, Virginia. My work centers on understanding neurodivergent children, teens, and adults, and giving their families answers they can actually use. I specialize in diagnostic and psychoeducational assessment for autism and ADHD, along with evaluations for learning and developmental differences. I see clients across the full age range, from toddlers as young as 15 months through adults who spent years without a clear explanation for their struggles. Every evaluation is built around the individual, not a checklist of symptoms. I want each person to leave with real insight into who they are and a practical plan for what comes next. My approach is collaborative and evidence-based. I take time to know the whole person: their history, their strengths, their family, and their goals. I draw on parent interviews, school input, and standardized testing to form a complete picture, then explain what I find in plain language that clients and parents can understand. I grew up in Richmond and came back to build my practice here. I earned my undergraduate degree from the College of William & Mary and my doctorate in clinical psychology from Loyola University Maryland. My training includes Children's National Hospital in Washington, Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital and the Loyola Clinical Centers in Baltimore, and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Assessment and Treatment in Chevy Chase, Maryland. At the heart of my work is respect for each person's story. I believe a good assessment should open doors, not close them.
