I am a strength-based, solution focused licensed psychologist and certified addictions counselor. I earned a doctoral degree in counseling and sport psychology, and I approach my work with clients as a collaboration, in the service of the clients goals. I work with a broad range of clients, including those who want to address stress, anxiety, depression, problems with an addictive substance or addictive behavior, or a problem with relationships. Many clients who work with me do not come to counseling because of a specific mental health concern, but instead have an athletic, career, or performance goal that they would like to pursue. I often work with athletes and executives that would like to improve their performance, but also address some other aspect of their internal life, like negative thinking, difficult emotions, or uncertainty about the future. I began my career as a substance abuse counselor, and I maintain that specialty as part of my practice. Some clients come to counseling because they hope to stop using a substance or engaging in a self-destructive behavior, while others are questioning what to do and want to explore that in a safe and confidential place. Sometimes people seeking help with a behavior present with concerns around their eating habits and food. While I am not an eating disorder specialist, I very often work with athletes and non-athletes who are having trouble with emotional-eating, food restriction, or other kinds of disordered eating that may be related to athletics and/or an addictive process. I strive to be sensitive to issues of diversity, and view ethnicity, spirituality, and sexuality as extremely important factors of mental health. I welcome clients from all backgrounds, beliefs, and identities. I have an office in Brookline, MA, and also see clients online.
