Dr. Berman has been in private practice since 1998. Prior to that, she worked in the public sector for 10 years in two different county jails, county juvenile detention, inpatient sex offender treatment and two community mental health centers. She has done a variety of forensic evaluations: criminal competency and sanity, fitness for duty, disability for civilians and military veterans and sexually violent offender evaluation and treatment. While most of her practice involves individual therapy, she also provides group therapy. While her therapeutic orientation is Cognitive Behavioral; her therapeutic style is not focused on categorizing people into diagnoses, so much as to determine what behaviors, emotions and thoughts might be causing problems and then to determine the most effective way to moderate those things. She does not participate in any insurance panels, but many insurance plans provide out of network benefits, which may moderate the out of pocket cost.
