I completed my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Notre Dame in August 2004. As part of my graduate degree, I was a pre-doctoral intern at Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). My Master of Arts, also in Counseling Psychology, was completed at Notre Dame in January 2001. I graduated with Highest Distinction from Nebraska Wesleyan University in December 1997, with a double major in English and psychology, along with a minor in Women’s Studies.
My theoretical orientation is primarily humanistic and client-centered. I believe that my clients generally know what is best for themselves and I tend to take a strengths-based approach in working with people. However, I also consider myself to be an integrationist in that I will utilize other strategies, including cognitive-behavioral, existential, feminist, and systems approaches as needed.
