Hello and welcome! I'm a licensed psychologist in NY with a particular specialty in helping individuals navigate identity development, especially re: race/ethnicity or sexual/romantic orientation, something I'm familiar with professionally and personally. Figuring out who you are can be challenging, especially when you feel pressure to fit a complex and fluid identity into a box or conform to norms that you do not identify with. In my sessions, I cultivate a space of validation and acceptance where you can feel safe learning about and being yourself. I am passionate about helping people feel listened to and understood in their personal context. My approach to therapy is collaborative and integrative; I use techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and psychodynamic therapy to tailor my approach to each individual's needs, strengths, and ways of learning. Together we will discuss goals for therapy and work collaboratively to achieve them in the way that works best for you. I seek to create an experience where you feel validated and understood, one that is as individual as you are. Our work together will help you understand the ways your experiences, past and present, have shaped the way you think about things and engage with the world; we can also understand how your identity affects the way the world interacts with you. Therapy is like a massage: at times lengthy and painful, but by working out the knots, we can help you heal.
