I hold a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Ohio University, where I specialized in child and health psychology. I have over 10 years of experience providing psychotherapy and assessment to individuals in Southeast Ohio. I have worked in a number of clinical settings, most recently a VA outpatient medical center delivering psychology services to veterans in their homes. I have a passion for working with individuals who need assistance making health-related behavior changes, such as coping with chronic pain, improving sleep, quitting tobacco, modifying unhealthy eating patterns, managing chronic illness, and reducing the health impact of stress. In addition to these areas of specialization, I welcome clients who may be dealing with depression, anxiety, traumatic stress, grief and loss, end of life issues, and a range of interpersonal challenges. In my interactions with clients, I strive to be an openhearted listener who brings compassion, insight, and a touch of playful humor into the therapy room. Because therapy is a collaborative process, I encourage clients to offer feedback about what is working in therapy and what might need some tweaking. My goal is to help clients gain clarity about their specific challenges, reinforce existing strengths, and develop new skills that will empower them to make desired changes. While I have worked with individuals of all ages, my current practice is focused solely on providing individual psychotherapy to adolescents and adults. I use an integrative approach to therapy, drawing on my training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and health psychology.
