I specialize in consultation and psychotherapy for hereditary cancer risk, including: decisions about prophylactic surgery and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), talking with children and other family members about risk, coping with cancer risk, bereavement, anxiety & depression, fear of genetic testing, and preparing for surgery. I have counseled over 500 individuals, couples & families with a variety of inherited cancer risk syndromes, including breast/ovarian (BRCA1/2), Lynch/HNPCC, familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP), Li-Fraumeni, and diffuse gastric cancer (CDH1). I am on staff at the Cleveland Clinic on the Main Campus; through the Clinic, I also offer telepsychology consultations to residents of OH and NY. I serve on advisory boards for FORCE (Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered), Bright Pink, Sharsheret, and the Cancer Support Community's Breast and Gastric Cancer Registries, and have given numerous talks nationally and internationally for both professional and lay audiences. In 2014, I was honored to receive a Spirit of Empowerment-Individual Commitment award at the 8th Annual FORCE conference, in recognition of my work on behalf of the hereditary cancer community.
