Justin Chernow, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist licensed in California. His clinical experience includes working in community, university, and correctional mental health settings, as well as integrated medical environments such as hospice. He has special training in both Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR). His research and ongoing clinical work highlight the personal and interpersonal growth potential of suffering, chronic illness/pain, and trauma. Prior, Dr. Chernow was a consultant who gained a decade of experience with leading brand and communications agencies in San Francisco and New York. Before entering the consulting arena, he studied at Pomona College in Claremont, CA, and graduated with his B.A. in anthropology following several notable fieldwork projects. These included studying the medical practices of the Maasai tribe in Kenya’s remote Rift Valley, and through a Ford Foundation grant, collaborating with a Native American medicine woman to reconstruct the lost medical practices of the Shasta culture. Currently, in his private practice for adult individuals and couples, Dr. Chernow addresses issues related to his clinical areas of specialization, which include depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues.
