My journey began when I Graduated from the University of Michigan Dental School; where, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. Moreover, my senior year practicum at U of M earned me my first publication in The Journal of American Dental Association. After practicing for several years I decided to go to graduate school. I went to The University of Detroit Mercy, and earned a Masters of Science Degree in Public Health Education (My thesis topic was Multiple Sensory Stimulation to combat Dental Phobias). Moreover, my experience at University of Detroit Mercy helped me to realize that my passion was in the field of psychology. In my quest to achieve a Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology. I applied to The Michigan School of Psychology and earned a second Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology (My thesis topic focused on child development, trauma, and addictions). Immediately following the completion of my Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology, I began my Doctoral studies. I completed my Doctorate Degree in 4 years. My doctoral dissertation was a qualitative phenomenological research studie exploring the question, "What is the Males Experience of having an eating Disorder?"
I have been in private practice; in addition, to working as an associate at St John Hospital Ascension Health Care for 12 years now. My therapeutic approach is steeped in Humanistic and Existential Psychology. In addition, I am trained multiple evidence based therapeutic approaches such as: Cognitive Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Play Therapy, and I will earn a certificate in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in May 2019.
