Joel M. Monroe, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist. He received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Heidelberg University and obtained his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology in Washington, D.C. He completed his residency at Broughton Hospital and a postdoctoral fellowship in psychotic disorders at the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Monroe specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. He provides a full range of adult psychological services, including neuropsychological and psychological evaluation, consultation, psychosocial skills and resiliency training, and individual psychotherapy. His clinical interests include severe and persistent mental illness, psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery, trauma and dissociative disorders, neuropsychiatric conditions, and adult general mental health. He received the 2017 Mental Health Professional of the Year Award from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). He is an active member of the American Psychological Association, the International Society of Schizophrenia Research, the International Society for Psychological and Social Approaches to Psychosis, and the Society for Personality Assessment.
