Iektje Stephens (Licensed under her maiden name: Iektje van Bolhuis) received her Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and trained for two years at the Austin Psychology and Assessment Center prior to licensure. Iektje provides therapy for many different challenges, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism spectrum, life transitions, and relationship issues. She provides both individual and couples therapy. Iektje has extensive experience and training in a variety of treatment modalities, including mindfulness-based, humanistic, solution focused, cognitive-behavioral, and Gottman-method couples therapy. The core of her work, however, is fostering her relationship and collaboration with the client. The number one predictor of positive therapy outcomes is the goodness of fit between the client and therapist. Therefore, Iektje uses the client’s feedback about each session (feedback informed therapy) to determine the direction of their work together. Message from Iektje: “When you are suffering, experiencing obstacles, or feeling stuck in your life you can use therapy as an opportunity for tremendous growth and transformation. I believe you already have everything you need to work with the challenges you are facing and successfully achieve your goals. We will be working together to identify and remove the obstacles that keep you from reaching your goals. As a therapist I feel privileged and moved watching my clients’ inner strength, resilience, and resourcefulness come to fruition.
