Hello. I'm Dr. Holly Altson. My pronouns are she/her/hers. If you're reading this, you've probably decided that you want or even need someone to talk to. Perhaps circumstances or even your own emotions feel overwhelming right now. Maybe you've experienced a loss or are going through a change in your life. We all need someone to talk to, at some time or other, and seeking the help of a professional can be an important step towards healing and/or getting back on your feet. Over the years, I have worked with people from diverse backgrounds seeking support for a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, relationship conflicts, and changes in their life. Some of the changes were planned — relocating to a new place, leaving a relationship, a gender transition — and some were not, like the loss of a job, the loss of a loved one, an HIV diagnosis, or other health issues. Maybe you can relate to some of these concerns, or perhaps you're experiencing something I haven't mentioned here. I can't promise to know everything, but I will do my best to understand. I am nonjudgmental, accepting, and genuinely care. I will listen and join with you as you learn to know yourself better and to find your strengths.
If you live in the State of Oregon and feel I can be of help to you, please reach out. I am registered in the State of Oregon as a Psychologist Resident and practice under the supervision of Meghan Kelley, Psy.D. I work predominantly from a psychodynamic orientation, specifically intersubjectivity. I also frequently incorporate approaches from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. My goal is to find an approach that is most helpful for each person.
To maintain social distancing, I'm accepting new telehealth patients only. Though I would like to meet you in person, we are finding that telehealth can be effective and keeps us both safer under the current conditions. It can also be very convenient if you life in a remote area. I look forward to hearing from you.
