Dr. Cox has been licensed as a psychologist in the state of Missouri since 1985. He has worked in a broad range of settings, including inpatient hospital, intensive outpatient, community mental health, school, and private practice. Dr. Cox has specialized in exposure-based behavioral therapy for incapacitating anxiety disorders, including OCD, panic disorder, agoraphobia, and trauma-induced phobias. For the past 28 years, Dr. Cox has worked as a school district consultant. He has expertise in the treatment of childhood trauma and has been a member of the Missouri Governor's Task Force for the Prevention of Sexual Abuse of Children since 2015. He has been one of the early advocates for trauma-informed schools in the state of Missouri, and he currently aids school districts across the state with the development of trauma-informed organizational practices and cultural development. Currently, he also serves as a licensure supervisor, trains educational staff in cognitive-behavioral practices and trauma-informed principles, and aids in the development of school-based programming for severely emotionally disturbed K-12 students.
