Dr. Fortin graduated Summa Cum Laude with a doctorate in psychology (generalist) and Summa Cum Laude with a MS in counseling from Capella University in Minneapolis, MN. As an undergrad, while working toward his BS in psychology from Montana State University-Billings, Dr. Fortin worked with adolescents in long term residential treatment which focused on youth with conduct & oppositional defiant disorders and mental health issues.
Dr. Fortin currently practices outpatient mental health counseling at Neurobehavioral Center for Growth. Dr. Fortin currently accepts both adolescent (12+) and adult clients. In addition to his current practice, Dr. Fortin has extensive experience in a variety of specializations and therapeutic settings, including performing emergency psychiatric evaluations in hospitals; developing treatment curriculum and providing direct services for substance use; providing assessment, evaluation and counseling for adolescent males with sexual misconduct, acute mood and conduct disorders (e.g., Disruptive Mood Dysregulation, Reactive Attachment, Oppositional Defiance, Autism Spectrum, Bipolar, etc.); and adult inpatient and outpatient services addressing severe mental health disorders.
Dr. Fortin is a member of both the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Counseling Association (ACA). He is also a lifetime member of the Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology, a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and a member of the American Legion.
Dr. Fortin is a disabled veteran of the U.S. Army. In his free time, Dr. Fortin enjoys watching movies, writing poetry, hiking, contemplating philosophy, and fishing.
