As a therapist, I take a collaborative approach to help bring you relief from distress, insight, and improved well-being. We will work together to identify patterns of behavior and dynamics in relationships that you want to change, and to discover how prior experiences have shaped your emotional life, relationships, and behavior, perhaps in ways that are outside of your awareness. I work with patients who experience anxiety, depression, difficulties in relationships, challenges related to work and career, and stress that is related to life transitions. While I work with adults of all ages and stages, I have special expertise in working with parents, guardians, and caregivers with children who have disabilities. If you are in this situation, you may need a professional who has the capacity to provide relief from stress, as well as guidance and coaching for how to address challenges and interact effectively with school districts and various other institutions. As a psychologist with expertise in working with family members of children who have disabilities, I can provide that relief, guidance, and coaching. I provide a safe place to process feelings about parenting and to help you to advocate for your children's needs. I have over 30 years of experience, including 19 years as a special education administrator. I am well-versed in special education regulations and the workings of public schools. I am also the parent of an adult child who has a disability. In 2021, I gave a presentation on the topic of self-determination at a conference sponsored by the Federation for Children with Special Needs. I draw on both my professional and personal experience in providing counseling, coaching, and therapy to family members and caregivers of children with disabilities. I completed my undergraduate education at Brown University, and received my doctoral degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
