After completing a PhD in developmental psychology – the study of change throughout the life span – I enhanced my skills as a clinician, and earned a second doctorate, a PsyD (Doctor of Psychology.) Studying psychology from both perspectives provides a unique dimension to my work.
Prior to establishing my private practice, I worked with individuals and couples in a variety of settings including a group practice, community mental health agency, VA, inpatient trauma unit, and various school systems. Additionally, I held a range of managerial positions including as executive director of an agency providing end-of-life care.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked collaboratively with clients to improve the quality of their lives by helping them better balance responsibilities, relationships, and/or themselves as well as manage the accompanying feelings. I believe one of the most effective ways to achieve lasting positive change is by increasing awareness of choices.
My interactive style helps clients feel heard and understood as well as facilitates the relief that comes with hope – and eventual change. It is truly a privilege to listen to my clients’ stories and share in their efforts to have more satisfying and meaningful lives.
