Born in West Point, GA, May 7, 1942. Grew up all over as the son of an Air Force Officer. Studied at San Antonio Jr. College, Jacksonville State, University of Heidelberg, University of Munich, University of Arizona (B.S.), University of Maryland in College Park (Ph.D., 1981). Married with a step-son, a daughter & son. Lived & worked in Washington State for 1978 to 2009 in a variety of settings ranging from Community Mental Health, University of Washington, Private Practice. After my daughter & son-in-law accepted positions at the U. of Illinois and their first (of 4) sons was born, we moved to Urbana, IL to be active grandparents. I accepted a position with the VA in Danville, IL where I did Compensation & Pension Exams, was the Evidence-Based Practice Coordinator, supervised students, and engaged in psychotherapy for 7 years. My daughter & her husband then accepted positions at Vanderbilt & we followed. I continued working for the VA but as a full-time psychotherapist. I retired in November of 2020. I have applied for a TN license and plan to continue working here in the near future. My wife, a former social worker, and I have enjoyed a good life with rewarding careers, good friends and a wonderful family.
