Dr. Leikam has extensive experience working with diverse populations in both inpatient and outpatient settings, with advanced training with mood and personality disorders, severe mental illness, and forensic populations. Much of her career and training has been devoted to working with complex cases, requiring a strong understanding of symptom presentation and differential diagnosis. This enables her to provide comprehensive and individualized assessments for a wide range of concerns.
Dr. Corrine Leikam most recently worked as the Associate Clinical Director of a young adult substance abuse treatment center, where she managed a team of clinicians to ensure the highest quality of care. Her role included managing the onsite therapists and ensuring the department met the highest clinical standards for her clients. Previously, Dr. Leikam was a Forensic Clinician at a Forensic Community Treatment Program. She assisted individuals convicted as Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity as they transitioned back into the community. Dr. Leikam also provided therapy, conducted ongoing risk assessments and diagnostic clarification, and communicated directly with the courts regarding clients’ status.
Dr. Leikam completed an APA accredited pre-doctoral internship at the Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown Los Angeles, CA, where she conducted forensic evaluations and assisted inmates with adjustment and transition difficulties as well as more severe mental health needs while they were awaiting trial. Prior clinical training includes risk assessment with individuals struggling with severe mental illness; neuropsychological assessment for those with cognitive concerns, traumatic brain injuries, and neurodegenerative disorders; and long-term integrative psychotherapy.
