Dr. Shoemaker received a Doctor of Psychology degree, Psy.D., in Clinical Psychology from Loma Linda University in 2014. She also holds an MA degree in Psychology from Loma Linda University, which was granted in 2012, and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Redlands in 2008. She is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Colorado. For most of Dr. Shoemaker's early career, she committed herself to becoming an expert at assessing and treating trauma- and stressor-related disorders, though along the way she has become highly experienced and proficient at treating depression, anxiety disorders (e.g., generalized anxiety, specific phobias, social anxiety, etc.), as well as relationship/marital issues. Dr. Shoemaker prides herself on using evidence-based treatments- in other words, she uses therapeutic approaches that work! The treatments she offers include, but are not limited to the following: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Reprocessing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), Imagery Rehearsal Therapy (IRT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), Hypnotherapy, and Mindfulness-based Therapy. Outside of her professional life, Dr. Shoemaker enjoys spending time with her husband, their daughter, their terrier mix, Penny Lane, and her family, as well as attending concerts as often as possible.
