Dr. Montes earned her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA. She completed an APA accredited internship at Central Regional Hospital in collaboration with the University of North Carolina in 2013. While on internship, she gained experience working with chronically severe mental health diagnoses, including Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. Additionally, she gained experience with medically complex patients while on the cardiac transplant floor at UNC Chapel Hill. Dr. Montes has worked as a clinical psychologist in private practice treating chronic pain and complex trauma. She predominately uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior therapy for the treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mood disorders. As a military spouse, she has a deep understanding of the challenges military families in the Hampton Roads area face on a daily basis. Dr. Montes welcomes adult patients walking through every stage of life. She takes a holistic approach to best treat the needs of each individual patient. Her goal is to make each person feel welcomed, accepted, and valued through every stage of the healing process.
