About Me: Barbara Giardina, Ph.D. – A Psychologist of Behavioral Health Associates in Wilmington, DE. I enjoy working with clients, who, though suffering from psychological distress, want to collaborate to restore their functionality, and experience their life as worth living. During treatment we will carefully explore the troubling thoughts, feelings, and situations which are detracting from your well being. Much of this work is focused in the here and now, and includes practice of alternative thoughts and behaviors with the goal of building a sense of resourcefulness and autonomy. Some clients may benefit from understanding their emotional reactions at a deeper level so that they are not unwittingly pushed around by their emotions. An exploration of the history of significant relationships and the rules we learned about how to be as we walk through life, often lead us to a greater understanding of and increased flexibility in our functioning. I have 29 years of experience as a clinical psychologist helping people live healthier lives. I work with individuals, couples and families, who are 12 through 65+ years old.
