During the almost 20 years I have been working in the research field, I have been given the chance of exploring and studying different areas of psychology and neuroscience, and becoming familiar with different methodologies. During the last few years, my focus has been mainly directed at studying and promoting Healthy Aging. The concept of Cognitive reserve particularly interests me since it has the potentials for several applications linked to healthy aging, both for the clinical population and for the healthy aging population. My focus so far has been on different ways of assessing the cognitive reserve and increase it in both healthy aging individuals and patients with neurodegenerative disorders.
On the clinical intervention side, using neuromodulation, I have been designing a set of experiments aimed at exploring potentialities for using noninvasive brain stimulation to promote rehabilitation of cognitive and emotional functions in different populations, ranging from Alzheimer's patients, to young adults with ADHD, and involving empowerment for healthy adults.
