As a clinical health psychologist, I specialize in working with people living with medical concerns (including insomnia). My goal is to support you in defining and moving towards a happier and healthier life. My clients tell me they appreciate being able to connect with someone who understands their real-life experiences and struggles while living with a medical condition. It can be impactful to have a space where you can discuss the practical, emotional, existential, or spiritual concerns that often come with a medical diagnosis. I can also help you to navigate communicating with others, including loved ones and medical providers, about your condition, and dealing with the often-difficult medical system. My style is warm and interactive, and I tend to use compassionate humor in my work. I have extensive experience providing research-supported psychological treatments for a vast array of conditions, including cancer, insomnia, fatigue, and pain. I specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and biobehavioral tools designed for people with medical diagnosis and/or physical symptoms. I have focused on health/medical psychology throughout my career, earning my Ph.D. in Health Psychology at The Ohio State University, and completing my internship and post-doctoral fellowship in Behavioral Medicine at the Palo Alto Veterans Administration Medical Center. I worked for many years at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Cancer Center in the Psycho-Oncology program, and prior to that as a psychologist in a primary care clinic at Kaiser Permanente. I have authored numerous articles and presentations in the psycho-oncology field. You can move forward, and I am here to help. Please reach out to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation if this profile resonates with you or to learn more. I would be excited to work with you!
