Andrea Friedman, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist specializing in clinical health psychology and clinical neuropsychology. Dr. Friedman received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Miami in 1995. She completed her internship at the Boston VA Medical Center/Tufts University and her postdoctoral fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. In addition to co-founding the private practice Florida Medical Psychology Associates, she is also a Courtesy staff member at Tampa General Hospital, and provides outpatient psychological services, including pre-surgical evaluations, to BayCare's bariatric surgery program at St. Joseph's Hospital and South Florida Baptist Hospital. She has also held a faculty position in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Adolescent Medicine at University of South Florida and she has been a regular contributor to the World Of Westchase magazine's "Your Mental Health" column. Her current clinical practice focuses on providing mindfulness based cognitive behavioral therapy to adolescents, adults, and seniors. She offers individual therapy, assessment, as well as couples/marriage counseling. She specializes in stress management, weight management, eating disorders, coping with chronic illness and/or chronic pain, mood and anxiety disorders (including health anxiety), positive psychology, parenting skills, life transitions, fertility, and bereavement. She also offers gifted testing for Advanced Gifted Placement, memory/dementia evaluations, spinal cord stimulator placement evaluations, and donor egg/sperm fertility treatment evaluations.
