Andrea Friedman, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist specializing in clinical health psychology and clinical neuropsychology. Dr. Friedman received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Miami in 1995. She completed her internship at the Boston VA Medical Center/Tufts University and her postdoctoral fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. In addition to co-founding the private practice Florida Medical Psychology Associates, she is also a Courtesy staff member at Tampa General Hospital, and has provided outpatient psychological services, including pre-surgical evaluations, to BayCare's bariatric surgery program. She has held positions in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Adolescent Medicine at University of South Florida and has been a regular contributor to the World Of Westchase magazine's "Your Mental Health" column. In her clinical practice, she takes a holistic, empowerment-centered approach focusing on healing, processing and skill-building to help patients cultivate healthier, happier and more balanced lives. She offers mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy to adolescents, adults, and seniors in individual, couples and/or family therapy. She specializes in stress management, weight and lifestyle management, women’s health (including fertility, menopause and perimenopause), coping with chronic illness (including neurodegenerative conditions like Parkinson’s & Alzheimer’s, as well as diabetes, cardiovascular, & cancer support), mood and anxiety disorders (including health anxiety), positive parenting, life transitions, and bereavement. She offers memory/dementia evaluations, spinal cord stimulator placement evaluations, donor egg/sperm fertility treatment evaluations, and Advanced Gifted Placement testing. She holds an active Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) authorization granted by the PSYPACT Commission, allowing her to see patients in more than 40 states.
