I am a WA licensed clinical psychologist, owner of Alisa Horwitz PLLC, currently working as an independent telehealth practitioner. I received my B.A. from Swarthmore College in 2001 and my Ph.D. in Developmental Clinical Psychology in 2010 from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. More background information can be found on my website, www.AlisaHorwitzPhD.com. I primarily provide individual therapy to adults who wish to address acute or long-term trauma, specifically childhood sexual abuse/other developmental trauma. Additionally, I work with clients on other family of origin concerns and boundary setting in all areas of their lives. I also help clients address issues of depression and anxiety. I may use various therapeutic methods during treatment as the need arises, most from a trauma-focused lens. My therapy is largely influenced by a belief that trauma is best addressed by first focusing on psychoeducation, relaxation techniques, and learning to identify and successfully manage emotions and cognitions. During these early sessions, clients work to develop skills that are then available for them to use while processing the trauma(s).
