In an effort to be of service to others, Dr. von Kleiss completed his Bachelor of Arts degree at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky in May of 2000. Following completion of this degree he resided in Tacoma, Washington where he worked at Western State Hospital and various other psychiatric hospitals in Seattle and Tacoma. In 2002, he began Graduate School in Clinical Psychology at Argosy University in Seattle, Washington. He had the honor of being mentored by Dr. Zanny Milo and Dr. Francis Parks, ABPP, who also supervised his dissertation process, and Dr. Laura Brown, ABPP, who is a founding Mother of Feminist Theory and Therapy and a nationally recognized expert in the assessment and treatment of traumatic experiences and disorders. He also had the honor of being mentored by Dr. A. Suarez who was a founding researcher with Dr. Linehan in the development of Dialectical Behavior Therapy. More than anyone Dr. Suarez taught Dr. von Kleiss the meaning of validation and true compassion. Dr. von Kleiss completed his Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology in 2006 and completed his Doctorate of Psychology in Clinical Psychology in 2009. He also completed Board Certification in Clinical Psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology in the Spring of 2016. Board Certification is a very thorough and strenuous process used to verify that the Psychologist is not only competent, but skilled beyond standard levels and can be considered a Specialist in that field. He completed a Post-Doctoral Master of Science degree in Psychopharmacology at Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2021. Finally, he is the Chief Psychologist at Johnston Willis and Chippenham Hospitals where he has physician privileges consistent with his specialties.
