Dr. Weiner is a practicing clinical psychologist, specializing in the treatment of individuals suffering from the consequences of drug or alcohol use or behavioral addictions. He is also proficient in the treatment of traumatic stress (PTSD), having trained in the VA healthcare system for three years. Dr. Weiner uses an evidence-based and integrated approach to clinical treatment, drawing elements from cognitive-behavioral, values-oriented, mindfulness-based theories. Dr. Weiner is a strong advocate for evidence-based care in treating chemical dependency and behavioral addictions, as well as a proponent of integrating behavioral health services into medical settings. Dr. Weiner has been an outspoken advocate for numerous forward-leaning trends, including naloxone co-prescribing in hospital settings, fentanyl test strips, responsible opioid disposal, marijuana education, person-first language for stigma reduction, and vaping awareness for youth.
