Amy M.V. Bowers, PhD
I am a licensed clinical psychologist providing weekly psychotherapy with adults. While I practice as a generalist, my particular areas of interest and experience include sexual orientation issues, grief and loss, mindfulness and stress management, body image and eating disorders, gender-related concerns, spirituality, adjustments related to life transitions such as aging and parenting, anxiety, depression, relationship dynamics and difficulties, and issues of identity. Psychotherapy is effective only within a trusting, respectful therapeutic relationship. The relationship with the psychotherapist should be a good fit, aligned both interpersonally and in addressing mutually agreed-upon goals. I value examining underlying issues in depth and helping individuals to develop useful strategies for coping with stressors and difficulties. I believe that psychotherapy is ultimately beneficial in helping individuals to live well and to find meaning and fulfillment in their lives.
